Can I undo a deletion?

WipeAway Help Centre · 2 min read · Updated July 2026

No — deleted Google Calendar events cannot be recovered. This applies to any deletion method, not just WipeAway. Once events are deleted from Google Calendar, they are permanently removed.

This is the most important thing to know before using WipeAway. Always review the event count carefully on the confirmation screen before starting a deletion. Once confirmed, the process cannot be undone.

Why WipeAway shows you a count before deleting

This is exactly why WipeAway requires you to review an event count before the deletion begins. The count screen shows you exactly how many events will be removed for the cut-off date you have chosen. If the number looks wrong, go back and adjust your date before confirming.

If you deleted more than you intended

If you have already completed a deletion and removed events you did not intend to, the only recovery option is a backup. Google Calendar allows you to export your calendar data before making changes:

  • If you exported your calendar as an ICS file before running WipeAway, you can re-import those events via Google Calendar → Settings → Import & Export → Import
  • If you did not export beforehand, recovery is not possible through WipeAway or Google Calendar itself

How to avoid accidental deletions

  • Export your calendar first — go to Google Calendar → Settings → Import & Export → Export, and save the ICS file before running WipeAway
  • Use a conservative cut-off date — start with a date further in the past than you think you need, count the events, and adjust if necessary
  • Test on one calendar first — if you are cleaning multiple calendars, clean one first and verify the result before continuing
