My session keeps expiring — what do I do?

WipeAway Help Centre · 2 min read · Updated July 2026

WipeAway sessions are valid for 24 hours after you sign in. After that, you will need to sign in again with your Google account.

Why sessions expire

Session expiry is a standard security practice. It ensures that if someone else gains access to your browser or device, they cannot access your WipeAway session indefinitely. The 24-hour window is intentionally short for security reasons.

What happens if my session expires during a deletion?

If your session expires while a deletion is in progress, WipeAway will pause at its current point. When you sign back in, the deletion should resume from where it stopped — events that were already deleted will not be deleted again.

If the deletion does not resume automatically after signing back in, start a new deletion on the same calendar. WipeAway will count only the remaining events, so you won't duplicate anything.

My session expires much faster than 24 hours

If your session seems to be expiring sooner than expected, check the following:

  • Browser cookie settings — if your browser is set to delete cookies when you close it, your WipeAway session will end every time you close the browser. Check your browser's cookie settings and make sure cookies are not being cleared automatically.
  • Privacy extensions — some ad blockers or privacy extensions clear cookies automatically. Try temporarily disabling extensions if you suspect this is the cause.
  • Private / incognito mode — sessions do not persist between private browsing windows. Use a regular browser window for WipeAway.

Tip: If you regularly use WipeAway on the same device, use a regular browser window (not incognito) and allow cookies for wipeaway.app to avoid being signed out unexpectedly.
