What does "View only" mean?

In WipeAway's calendar list, some calendars appear with a View only label. These calendars cannot be selected for cleaning.

Why some calendars are "View only"

A calendar is shown as "View only" when the Google account you are signed in with can see the calendar but does not have permission to edit it. To delete events from a calendar, WipeAway needs edit (or owner) level access — view access alone is not sufficient.

Common examples of "View only" calendars:

• Public holiday calendars — such as "Holidays in United Kingdom" — these are public calendars managed by Google, and no individual user has edit access
• Calendars shared with you in read-only mode — the calendar owner has shared it with you as "View only" or "See all event details" rather than "Make changes to events"
• Subscribed calendars — calendars you have subscribed to via a URL, rather than owning yourself

How to get edit access to a calendar

If you need to clean a calendar that is showing as "View only", the calendar owner needs to change your permission level:

1. Ask the calendar owner to open Google Calendar
2. Click the three dots next to the calendar name → Settings and sharing
3. Under "Share with specific people", find your email address and change the permission to "Make changes to events"

Once the permission is updated, sign out of WipeAway and sign back in — the calendar should now be available for cleaning.
