An "authorisation failed" error means WipeAway was unable to complete the Google sign-in process. This is almost always caused by one of the following.
If you previously used WipeAway but revoked its access via your Google account settings, the authorisation will fail when you try to sign in again. Sign out of WipeAway, sign back in, and re-grant the requested permissions when Google asks.
WipeAway uses a security check (called a state parameter) to verify that a sign-in was legitimately initiated from your browser. If you copied a sign-in link from one browser and pasted it into another, or if your browser deleted cookies mid-sign-in, this check fails. Close all WipeAway tabs, open a fresh browser window, and start the sign-in process from the beginning.
Some Google Workspace accounts are configured by administrators to restrict which third-party apps can be authorised. If your organisation has this restriction, you will see an "Access blocked" message from Google (not WipeAway). Your IT administrator will need to approve WipeAway for your Workspace domain — see our IT approval guide.
Ad blockers or privacy extensions can interfere with the OAuth redirect that brings you back to WipeAway after signing in. Try disabling extensions and signing in again.
If none of these apply, contact us with the exact error message you are seeing — some errors include a code that helps us identify the specific cause.
