Short answer
In most cases, clean it rather than delete it. Deleting removes sharing permissions and integrations permanently; cleaning removes only the events.
When to clean (most situations)
Clean your calendar if:
- The calendar is shared with other people who need to keep access
- Any tool, booking system, or integration connects to this calendar
- You want to keep the calendar structure and start fresh with new events
- The calendar has a meaningful name, colour, or configuration that took time to set up
When to delete
Delete the calendar only if:
- You created it specifically for a one-off purpose and have no use for it going forward
- It is not shared with anyone else
- No tools or integrations depend on it
- You genuinely want it gone from your Calendar list entirely
The key difference
When you delete a Google Calendar, its internal ID is destroyed. Any tool, booking system, or sharing permission that referenced that ID stops working.
