Deleted Google Calendar events cannot be recovered. There is no undo, no recycle bin, and no way to retrieve events after a WipeAway deletion. Exporting the calendar beforehand is a simple safeguard.
How to export your Google Calendar
- Open Google Calendar on desktop
- Click the gear icon → Settings
- In the left sidebar, click Import & Export
- Click Export — this downloads all your calendars as ICS files in a ZIP archive
- Save the ZIP file somewhere safe before running WipeAway
When export is most important
- Before your first WipeAway deletion — until you are confident in the process
- For calendars containing historical data you might want to reference later
- For healthcare or professional services calendars with data retention obligations
- Any time you are unsure about the cut-off date you have chosen
Can I re-import if something goes wrong? Yes — if you export before deleting, you can re-import the ICS file via Google Calendar → Settings → Import & Export → Import. This restores the events to your calendar.
