These two actions sound similar but have very different consequences. Understanding the difference helps you make the right choice for your situation.
Deleting a calendar
When you delete a Google Calendar:
- The calendar is permanently removed from your Google account
- All events in the calendar are deleted
- The calendar's internal ID is destroyed — permanently
- All sharing permissions are lost — everyone loses access
- Any tools, booking systems, or integrations that referenced the calendar by ID stop working
- External subscriptions to the calendar stop working
- This action cannot be undone
Cleaning a calendar with WipeAway
When you clean a calendar with WipeAway:
- Only the events before your cut-off date are removed
- The calendar remains in your Google account
- The calendar's internal ID is unchanged
- All sharing permissions are preserved
- All integrations continue to function normally

When to use each
