Events still showing after deletion

WipeAway Help Centre·2 min read·Updated July 2026

If WipeAway reports that the deletion completed successfully but you can still see events in Google Calendar, this is almost always a display cache issue — not a sign that anything went wrong.

Why this happens

Google Calendar caches event data in your browser and on your devices. When WipeAway deletes events via the Google Calendar API, the deletion is confirmed immediately at the database level — but your Calendar view may not reflect this straight away, because it is still showing cached data.

How to force an update

  • On desktop: Refresh the Google Calendar page (press F5 or Ctrl+R). If that doesn't work, sign out of Google Calendar and sign back in.
  • On mobile: Close the Google Calendar app completely and reopen it. On iOS, swipe up to close it; on Android, use the recent apps button.
  • Wait a few minutes: In most cases, events disappear within 1–5 minutes without any action on your part.

The deletion did work. If WipeAway showed a completion screen with a final event count, the events have been deleted from Google's servers. The Calendar display just needs to catch up.

If events are still showing after 30 minutes

If events are still visible after 30 minutes and a full refresh, it is possible that not all events were deleted in the WipeAway session. Sign back into WipeAway, select the same calendar, and run a fresh count. If the count shows remaining events, you can run a follow-up deletion to clear them.

If the count shows 0 events but Calendar still shows them, contact us — this would be an unusual caching behaviour worth investigating.
