Before deleting events from any important Google Calendar, take a few minutes to export a backup. This gives you an ICS file you can re-import if anything needs to be corrected.
How to export your Google Calendar
- Open Google Calendar at calendar.google.com on desktop
- Click the gear icon in the top right → Settings
- In the left sidebar, click Import & Export
- Under Export, click Export
- Google downloads a ZIP file containing ICS files for all your calendars
- Save the ZIP file somewhere safe before running WipeAway
If you only want to back up specific calendars
The export function exports all calendars at once. To back up individual calendars:
- Click the three dots next to the calendar name in the left sidebar
- Click Settings and sharing
- Scroll down to Export calendar and click it
This exports just that one calendar as an ICS file.
How to restore from a backup
If you need to re-import events after a deletion:
- Go to Google Calendar → Settings → Import & Export → Import
- Choose the ICS file from your backup
- Select which calendar to import events into
- Click Import
Note: Restoring from a backup after a WipeAway deletion will re-add the events to your calendar — but any attendees will not be re-notified, and Google Meet links from past events will not be restored.
